I would like to see a poll on who everybody thinks is the best OTB player in this tournament.
Parent - By Schachmatt (****) [us] Date 2012-02-17 16:35
My guess is David, very speculative guess however, don't really know much about many of the participants.

Since we din't know much about the others maybe we could go by the honor system.

Me around ------------1600 FIDE
Kam "        ------------0400 FIDE ()
Schachmatt-----------2100 FIDE (by his own admission)

2100 US, fide only 1916, haven't played much fide rated chess though
Parent - - By David Evans (***) [gb] Date 2012-02-17 18:37
natmaku has strong otb rating better than me i forget his rating its pretty decent.
Parent - - By David Evans (***) [gb] Date 2012-02-17 18:38
otb is not that important however a good eye and a good sense of danger is however needed
Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [sa] Date 2012-02-17 18:44
I had a decent rating during my youth in fact most of my friends became titled players while I focused mainly in my studies and career. I'm glad that I discovered computer chess and correspondence chess, enjoying it a lot.

Btw, there is a monkey at my back.

Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [sa] Date 2012-02-17 18:48
Yes brilliant win. Congratulation it was a strong play.
Parent - - By David Evans (***) [gb] Date 2012-02-17 18:49
getting to finals is tough in this format
Parent - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [sa] Date 2012-02-17 18:52
Yes tough indeed. Lady luck seems at your side.

Thanks Matt, one of the true people here. I guessed maybe about 15% would answer truthfully. "pride goeth before a fall." As much as I try to open up here, most seem real guarded. Given the nature of the internet, I can understand in a way. Use "nom de plume's" to keep at a distance. No problem if a person feels that way. Some people know each other personally and have their well guarded cliques. Again, that's their choice.

I have found two people to trust in 58 years of life of life. God and my wife.

This most likely my last post here. I will let Garvin know if I plan to continue in plenty of time.

idk... Most people are cordial, but just busy!  Stay well!

For what it's worth:

German rating around 1700, too.

Cheers,

I for one in my younger days had a 1968 rating. Thought I was pretty good, I played natmaku 3 casual (human) games on playchess and was wiped off the board. There may be some top players here, but if anybody ever wants to set up a small match, my money's on Alvin.
Parent - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [sa] Date 2012-02-20 09:12
I'm lazy now playing human games, I prefer to have a silicon friend beside me.
Parent - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-20 10:33
In that case ask Alvin to play me :-)
Parent - By David Evans (***) [gb] Date 2012-02-20 11:09
have to agree scott he has asked me a few times to play but iam aware he is decent otb so would prob smash me..
Parent - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-02-20 14:20
Although I feel much stronger nowadays, that was more or less my rating when I used to play in my OTB League some years ago. I will be back to otb in coming years.
