my guess is 7 1/2 /12.
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-01-27 10:41
I'd go for 6 1/2

IMO, it is going to be very difficult to win any single game. I think if we loose one game, we are out.

i would not argue with you much, maybe  7 will win. This tournament will be very difficult for us all,as you may have noticed i have been testing various openings in corr play,in each one it is back to the drawing board.there could be a lot of joint winners.Just hope the new guys realise how tough this tourney is.

I am tipping 8.5/12

way

Well, i think 8.5 is too much, even 8.0 depends a lot on the "good" pairings one gets, especially in the first two rounds... and while the top players pretty easily will beat 1-3 of the weaker/less_motivated players, only a few are able to beat top players... and i think the inspired play of our defending champion has the highest chances doing so... indeed, of the players with a plus score (>5.5) in WBCCC, only José and Rubén (+ Stephanie+balabachi) could score a full point against the players >=even score(5.0), and i think this quality is highly needed to finish on the top of the table...

Will go for nice 8.0. With an extra round and less players I see this as a possibility.
- - By Turbo (***) Date 2012-01-28 01:04
I also think that José will score 8.0 (+2), NATIONAL and Ruben Comes will score 7.0 (+1), and a bigger group beyond them scoring 6.5 (+0.5) ... which will be bigger than the "on par" group scoring 6.0 (+-0)... the last place finishing all 12 games will score 3.5 (-2.5)... :-)

I was really hoping you would be able to play Turbo. We need more of the fun aspect in this group, they are all great guys, but too serious all the time.

Thanks for your kind words Scott, will play editon III next year (this year my exam(ination)s have absolute preference!), but will of course follow all of the -hopefully- interesting games! ;-)

And btw., i think you have a decent chance for the top half this year if you concentrate a little more on your games! :-)

i think your scoring is incorrect and i doubt we will have an outright winner, however you can also post your prediction at end of tourney in 11 months time if correct.
Parent - By Turbo (***) Date 2012-01-31 02:06
Calling something 'incorrect' without providing a 'more correct' solution is incorrect(!) by itself ;-)...
so how does your scoring-table look like, and who will be the shared winners? :-)

Soon, we will start soon---(rubbing hands together), Soon we will know the pairings... I will have ALL the games ever played by my opponents, just in case I may have missed a couple, a few bucks Nelson's way ought to cover that. Along with my new 256 core Houdini cluster encased in ice under 6 feet of cement allows me to predict a score of 11.0 for myself. I plan to let two players have a draw, not sure who it is yet, but it will depend heavily oh who can kiss up the best.

But in the spirit of sportsmanship, I wish you all good luck in going for second.

Yes, fantastic game! Mark has been winning Master class tours at ICCF long before computers came into the picture.

Of course, with a system like this, there may be an unforeseen problem or two. Does anyone know of a good steady source of Liquid Nitrogen?

Hope I play you and win!!! this time...:cry::cool:
Parent - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2012-02-01 15:39
With 20 approx players and 12 games, it is highly likely you two will play each other.
Parent - By Scott (****) Date 2012-02-01 16:04
I was going to send a "test move" to George, but game isn't showing up on the client xfcc...

Oh, oh, please add me to the list of players getting a draw against you as I dislike losing
