i will move to left when i make my move.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-01-12 01:08
thought my last move might slow things down a bit.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-12 02:14
Indeed! There's plenty of info to check on my preparations for the position, they've all been from the black side
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-01-12 02:28
already in this position i feel i am dictating whites play, this may be an illusion but white has many choices. If you believe lookup thats up to you but i have varied from my normal Lopez play as you are aware.Lots of fun.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-01-12 02:37
my usual trash talk, but it makes it more fun.
Parent - - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) [us] Date 2012-01-12 02:53
White has a forced win from this position.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-12 04:43
Whaaat??

If that was true, I could spend my time refuting and refuting variations until only the winning one(s) are left, and play it. With the strong status of today's engines and learning, would you recommend that I abandon what I had planned and just focus on finding the winning variation(s)?

Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-01-12 04:46
If there is a force win in in the position. I'll quit playing computer chess.

I know Turbo has a prefectist mentality when it comes to the opening, but there is just no way.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-12 04:50
Jimmy, did you read my PM?
Parent - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-01-12 04:50
Oh course I did.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-12 05:14
Well, turbo has, I believe, been running an IDEA tree with the top engines of each era since 2007, or something, if he says the position is won for white, it must be because there's a backtracked position with a backsolved score of 2.00 or something with no alternative saving moves for black found, for a white move or more.

So, say, if c3 on the position is such a move, and d3 is drawn, the current move is critical to winning, I can't just make my pick lightly

Having lots of fun already! Actually, my original plan was to consult with the pillow and dedicate the morning to a metapreparation, but turbo's statement is scary and I can't sleep now :surprised:

> White has a forced win from this position.

This is also known as trash talk.  Of course, black (and white) is perfectly fine here.  I just wanted to stir up a little trouble.

That was so cruel of turbo

A person of his credibility can't make such jokes as they could be believed, I thought his comment changed everything! As in, if this position was won for white, it could be possible that the opening position was won for white, instead of the the draw with perfect play I was certain about!

Call me naive, but at least I refuted several variations to a draw . Now to more normal analysis methods instead of trying to find a win it's not there, yet...
Parent - - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) [us] Date 2012-01-12 17:55
I'm sorry you lost sleep, Uly.  The comment was really meant to be sarcastic, and a "counter" to Paul's "trash-talk".  Of course, I wouldn't really make a comment like that until after the possibility had already passed, as I wouldn't want to influence the game.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-12 18:17
No problem turbo, it was my fault for believing you, and it seems I was the only one! So I spent several hours trying to find the winning line or lines, with my fails only making me think "oh god!, it must be the deepest win ever!", so it was fun and exciting

No harm done, it just enticed me to try harder to win this
