You cannot underestimate Anand. I think he is capable of defeating any chess program :-D
I don't underestimate the world champion. Only the human race ! It'a a true sport for this race to create means for self-distructions in any area (under various motivations).

Thats true.But creating a chess program is not self destruction.The chess engines will only improve the game of humans :-D.For me, "A creation is not bigger than the creator" :-).

I think it is not a matter of underestimating someone's ability the truth is that these programs are advanced more than human because they rely on brute force (and now new versions of Rybka, Fritz, Hiarcs... can go in depth and lead any one into some tactical wilderness). You can confirm at playchess.com where you see GMs being crushed by Comp Hiarcs 11.2 or Fritz.
We may conclude that since computer has no mood, or variable form, they play best chess at any time - Human are subjected to these factors. Check out games played between Kasparov and Anand where both made mistakes - You dont try that against a machine. Just a mistake and you are blown off!

We might never know how GM's analyzed Rybka yet. They might have found some weak game play which they will use to exploit chess engines. Engines are almost flawless, the key is most top class GM's will exploit that 'almost' father factors. So results might be close. 50/50.
Even if we had been playing Anand instead of Benjamin, and even if he studied Rybka 2.3.2a for months finding weaknesses, it would have done little good as the version we used is so much changed and improved, not to mention that he would hardly have guessed I would book the Philidor defense. Of course if he has access to the actual playing version and book that would be an entirely different story.

In all 8 games Rebel played very attractive chess resulting in a 5 -3 victory for Rebel.

Has it been understood? Last Rybka Vs. Humans matches have been giving me a different idea.
But I can assure you that Benjamin would have demolished Fritz 5.32; the same could not be said back in 2000, since 2700 level players were having trouble then.
Yes... but his match loss resulted from the 4 blitz and 2 semi-blitz games, 1.5-4.5. He scored 1.5-0.5 in the 2 tournament time games.

That was a decade ago.Anand is much experienced now.An advanced chess program might defeat him but one cannot say that it will completely dominate him in every single match.
