I've been thinking about getting an account there.

With so many chess servers over the years, I've tried this and that out, and really don't want to bother changing to a new chess server unless it has something I want.
Bells and whistles aside, there are plenty of ways to get free or nearly free chess lessons/tactics/openings without being on a Pay-to-Play server.

-I know, I can get a free account to just play games, but that leads to my question...

What are the regular time controls at Chess.com. With FICS, and most other chess servers I've tried, I'd say 90% of the casual games are under 15 minutes, with most of them closer to 10 or less.

The reason I ask is that I'm kinda tired of quick chess, and FICS just doesn't really have much in the way of slower time controls. I'm studying chess yet again. And I realised that I"m taking more time to study the board.. which is good. Makes  for more interesting chess when I actually plan my moves instead of "generalizations" followed by hopefully finding a tactic faster than my opponent.

Yeah Chess.com has some decent controls I have played some games over 15 minutes before. But the reason you see a lot of blitz is because people like to cheat and others don't liked to be cheated. These to things go handed in handed. So my advice is play there, but check game history form time to time. I think chess.com does a pretty good job of banning cheaters. Sometimes it times some time. But they never win out.

I think FICS finds cheaters on 2 weeks tops, so to avoid cheaters all you need to do is play players with accounts older than that.

I tried Chess.com and liked FICS better, just saying...
