Good luck and have fun Paul! That's what corr chess is all about

My turn, let's take a look, the only analysis I have on this is what I play on the board.

Paul, i hope you're aware that Uly doesn't like (the pressure of) requested moves and a move-time of one year is pretty fine to him :-)...
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-10-30 16:57
maybe he wants to see how i am doing against keoki.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2011-10-30 20:59
Paul and me have already played thematic games, and he knows I am very thorough in my analysis, specially when this is my first Bird opening and I have nothing properly analyzed. He knows at what pace I play, and that I'd never manage to play at his pace
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-10-30 22:07
i dont understand why this opening isn't played more often,it looks sound enough to me.Obviously engines dont understand early moves and you have to rely on book and ideas behind the opening such as white strategy of controlling black-squares.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-10-31 00:15
after watching a number of your games,i wonder if you are tempted by the From Gambit. 1...e5.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2011-10-31 00:23
Yes, I have a huge amount of analysis for 1.f4 e5, but only if you continue 2.e4 and then this is not a Bird's anymore :yell:

So I'll be playing something else. I already know what but still want to take my time here since I don't like pondering
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-10-31 00:30
doubt if i would play 2.e4,you could try it to find out.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-10-31 00:52
as i said,i dont understand why this opening is not played more often.Black feels for gods sake i must be able to bust this but it aint easy,a recent idea is 1..c5 but hardly a bust.

in a serious match game i wouldn't even give away my thinking but this is what we all like about this forum,we can discuss ideas and decide between good and bad.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2011-10-31 02:38
After taking a deep look I'll say the Bird's is all fine, in the sense that white isn't in any trouble in anything. It's also a great opening that seems to allow the idea of the human to prevail, for what I've seen pretty much any move could be played and it allows plenty of freedom on move choosing. For instance, here I'm playing the move I liked to play, while in other openings like the Spanish or Sicilian the variations one can play seem more reduced (I'm talking about both white and black here, I don't think any player will be able to predict the other one's moves for a while).

rnbqkb1r/pppppppp/5n2/8/5P2/8/PPPPP1PP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq -

As for why it's not played more often, on the positions I saw white doesn't seem to have as much punch as it does in other openings in the way moves are dangerous for black to play, but it's still early game and I can't say much about it after the few variations that I've seen.

i think you hit the nail on the head with your eval.i aint going to lose but their is little pressure on black and we will end up in drawn positions.

i now wish i hadn't played all those wing gambit games on corr forum.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2011-11-01 00:23
Well, it's too early to make any predictions on this game, though I agree in that probably I won't beat you

>i now wish i hadn't played all those wing gambit games on corr forum.

Why? I enjoyed them very much as spectator and player.

yes i agree they were great games but it f...k.d me up for playing in wbccc.
