Just curious, but which engine can find Qa5?

This is a chess variant called Reversed chess or in ICS, wild5. Now don't get me wrong, there are different moves that can win the game, but from my experience of this variant (which is a lot ), Qa5 is the optimum move in this position.

My hardware isn't much, but only Hiarcs11 has found that move! IMO Hiarcs is the best engine to play this game due to its strong positional play. Now I'm sure when Houdini 2 comes out, it will probably give Hiarcs a challenge because it too will have positional learning.

I actually did some tests to see who played this game the best, and Hiarcs scored more, over Critter, Houdini, Stockfish, and Komodo.

Yes the pawns promote to the top and bottom... Look at the coordinates, maybe that might help you :) But it does seem a bit off, if you first take a glance at it

Yes many engines go for the Qe6, Qd3, and Qxg2, but really Qa5 or even Qc4 have a higher win rate than any other move.

Nice! it took 0:38 secs... This game is usually played with 1+0 time control. So if it was playing at that time control, do you think it will be able to find Qa5 within 10 secs?

The black bishop is in zugzwangn it cannot protect both c2 and c8 so after 3... c3 just play :
4. a4 a5  5.Kd1 c2+ 6.Kc1 c4 7.Kd2 c3+ 8 Kc1

And here the black bishop must move !

After 3.Rd8 any engine is able to find in few minutes the solution.
