Fritz and deep Rybka

If I purchase deep rybka, then purchase the normal (not deep) fritz, and load deep rybka into the fritz interface, will rybka still be able to access more than 1 cpu/core?
If I purchase deep rybka, then purchase the normal (not deep) fritz, will there be any difference between that and simply purchasing the chessbase version of deep rybka? Located here http://chessbase-shop.com/en/products/5753

1) Deep Rybka can use multiple cores regardless of GUI.
2) No difference.

With a Fritz GUI you can load any UCI engine (MP or SP). Most of the top engines today are UCI engines, with an exception being the Fritz engine, which uses a proprietary format that can only be loaded with a Fritz GUI (although I could be wrong and someone might have found a hack for this).

I think it would be as easy as checking how it communicates with the GUI, and putting an adapter that translates it to UCI protocol. Probably by looking at the memory addresses that the GUI is reading.

But, analysis wise, I don't think Fritz 11 or Fritz 12 (weaker than 11?! :eek:

) are worth the hassle, due to dull playing style and tactical weakness.

So the question is, is Deep Fritz 10.1 worth the hassle? It's relatively weak, and for style there's Hiarcs 2007 that is stronger and UCI. And, anyway, Fritz probably doesn't support the searchmoves feature and only supports Search Next, not a UCI feature, which means it would be crippled even with an adapter.

If you have Fritz you have the GUI, if firing up the GUI to check on its opinion is not worth the hassle, hacking the protocol to use it as UCI is probably not worth the hassle either.

Since ALL cpu's are now multicore, why are we paying a premium for multi-core engines? The parrallel processing programing is done. And has been done for a couple of years.

At one time, I remember reading that sales of the sp version were very good, which was a surprise to me. (Even though a number of years ago, I bought the sp version of 2.3.2., since I thought R3 was right around the corner.)

The Komodo idea is interesting: give away the sp version and sell the mp version. My first thought was that too many people would just opt for the free version, especially if it works in IDEA.
