Novelty move.
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2011-07-07 03:59
Osthus (1930)-Nittschalk (1801), 0-1, 2003.  Game ended in 23 moves.  The ELO ratings ought to tell you something.  Thought I'd elaborate on the novelty announcement.

must admit,a strange position indeed.
Parent - - By Mark Eldridge (****) [gb] Date 2011-07-06 21:58
Very strange indeed. The d4 line is busted, Nc3 is the best chances for white.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-07-06 21:59
not so sure as you about this.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-07-06 22:01
if this is true though, this game has been wothwhile then.
Parent - By Mark Eldridge (****) [gb] Date 2011-07-06 22:26
That's for sure. Don't make d4, Nc3 is the only chance for white. That is only my opinion others maybe able to show something else?
Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [us] Date 2011-07-11 16:37
I just played Nc3 in one of my correspondence games:

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Nxf7 Kxf7 5.Nc3 c5 6.Bc4+ Be6 7.*

Parent - - By Mark Eldridge (****) [gb] Date 2011-07-11 17:59
Much better move then d4.

Let me know how you get on in this game.
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2011-07-11 18:07 Edited 2011-07-11 18:46
Edit: Sorry Mark I was wrong he played the d4 line.
Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [us] Date 2011-07-11 18:43
I used d4 in that game. I want to give Nc3 a chance
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2011-07-11 18:46

I could play on for another 20+ moves but you will win in the end.
Parent - - By Mark Eldridge (****) [gb] Date 2011-07-10 20:51
4.Nc3 is the better choice for white.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2011-07-10 20:56
not sure what is best fourth move, the whole opening looks a bit dodgy to me,maybe ok otb but with computer help and at corr level very difficult for white.
