What is happening to the content that disappears from this page?

Do those text lines use more space that the threads that we have in the forum, making having a chat archive unreasonable due to size constraints?

I would record all my conversations if it was plausible, it would come in handy when my memories of them conflict with other people's memories. What makes IRL chatting different from virtual chatting? It's plausible to save the latter.
