Well, it is, as at this point I don't mind losing a second game, what I want is to win to tie the match! And I'm sure my winning chances here are higher than in the Giuoco Piano we'd have played!

You done with d4? :lol: I guess that game is not going anywere at the moment. My serect to you is that I don't know mind playing any opening :grin: I have played e4,d4,c4,Nf3,g3,b3 for white before and a lot more different defenses black. I think I will change it up in round 2.

I'm trying to specialize, of course that's a bad idea when opponents may start preparing against me, but I can try to out-prepare them myself in the same line, of course being a Jack-Of-All-Trades would be better!

I'm optimistic in my d4 game, at least more than in my game against Lobo.

You need something a little more dramtic vs the e6 lines. I have had most success with the while lines with playing the g3 systems. Of course you can also try an King Indian Attack system as well. But you may want to look up the ideas. If you wanted I can sent you info if you are interested.

I have to get my computer put up later today(Its after midnight now :smile:) And get all my sources install/dowloaded again than I will sent you a PM. I know of a great place to get some good opening ideas. Plus you can leave a post about an opening you would like to get an opinion about. Take note if you get an user name there, you would want it to be different than the one you got here or we maybe able to book up against you :smile:

I have played this type of opening with success. I guess if you play openings of your style you have some luck with it.

i don't like any options presented.. i have lines that guarantee draw (and match win... further frustrating Uly... :wink:), but i don't want to be boring in the spirit of Uly's sharp style in this game...

i'm not happy with a draw, but it may not even be my choice.. most draws i run into are three fold reps initiated by white. although, the alternative is not good for white.

so far, you're playing the best moves possible.. i was hoping you wouldn't play 9.Bc4 as i was pretty sure all other lose, but it wasn't so obvious.

Anyhow, let me investigate your 11th move a little.. a lot of hard work for both of us in next few moves....

okay, this may be good news for me or it may be really bad news.

I thought 15.Bxe6 was best for white.
15.h4 loses.
I dismissed 15.Be2 as not even an option... and that is why i'm concerned.. because you played it. :confused:

it resulted in a very sharp position... at first, white had to be careful, because many moves gave black an advantage... in the end, black had to be precise or white started getting the advantage. It was like threading a needle. down by move 47 it was still rather equal, but more often white started getting positive scores and now lines started showing up where black was forcing 3-fold repetition draw. anyhow, i wanted to see if you would play this move before i investigated further. i grew weary....

Have either of you used Critter to analyze this or other King's gambit games?  Just wondering if it's well regarded tactical ability and unconventional evaluation is useful for analyzing sharp KGA positions? I've always felt that Stockfish was too materialistic to be very useful in positions with material imbalances. Critter, on the other hand, always seems to do well in such positions.

I still think R3 Dynamic is an essential tool for this and other gambit games.

it's hard to remember now, but critter might have been instrumental in finding 15.Bxe6 that was not played.

i'm finding critter likes white's position a little bit too much... i find that eventually it tends to agree with rybka.. maybe not 100%, but it does concede that things weren't so good for white...

It's curious that you mention it, as I use Critter (0.70) in all my games but this one, the reason is I'm sticking with the engines I started the analysis of King Gambit games that worked (why would I stop using engines that I know handle these positions well?), these are 5 engines and the spot left was for Rybka 4. Using 7 engines raises too high the noise and redundancy levels (and makes me use more analysis time) so there just wasn't a space for Critter for analysis :neutral:
