Regarding question below…
Is there web page with such statistics?

Regarding Rybka 4 …
What would be a “short time” setting to “approximate” Rybka’s top play?

Some examples of a “short time” setting:
1 minute per game with 3 seconds per move?  or
1 minute per game with 5 seconds per move?  or
1 minute per game with 7 seconds per move?  or
1 minute per game with 9 seconds per move?
Etc…

Said differently:
If you setup “an interesting” board position and
asked Rybka to move and to “take its time” like:
- a week to make one move, or
- a day to make one move, or
- 1 move in 2 hours and
you wrote that “one move” down
then setup the same “interesting” board position and
did the above short time setting of   1/3   1/5   1/7   1/9  etc…
then which short time setting would result
in the same move 99% plus of the time?

Said another way…
Most results in least time.

Cheers!

Are you wanting to see a lookup table that went along the lines of:
<Hardware><R4 Compute Time><Approx ELO>, i.e., for a fixed/known hardware setup, vary thinking time for a given position and look to see the ELO consequence for the amount of time given.  Is this what you are trying to establish?

If there is an existing Link to a Look Up table then sure.  Please post.

The question is focused on the end results - one move.

That is --
given a board position and
given whatever hardware ya have and
given “lots of time” the computer program (Rybka 4) will make one move.
Now ya give the same board position and a “short time” setting of say
1 minute per game with 7 seconds per move …
Will (Rybka 4) give the same result, same move, over 99% of the time?

Cheers!

That will depend on the position, what is the sense behind this?

The sense behind this is as posted:
"Most results in least time."

Pick a game that fascinates you, intrigues you.
Go to part way into game, say move 7.
(An interesting part of the game)
Let Rybka 4 play 2 hours per move or what you consider a long time.
Play 10 moves or whatever.

Then play same with “short time”.
Does 1/9 show same 10 moves?
Does 1/7 show same 10 moves?
Does 1/5 show same 10 moves?
Does 1/3 show same 10 moves?
Etc.

Regarding the above…
Is there web page with such statistics?

Cheers!
