Hi,
since our team is busy with Leiden, we need an operator for this tournament:
http://www.taccl.org/ACCA2007Championships/2007AmericasChamp.html
Dates: Oct 27 & 29
Prerequisites are: quad or better, some knowledge of ICC, and talent for kicking butt.
Please email me at vrajlich at yahoo dot com.

bump ..
I think Nick would be a good bet. He knows ICC inside out and has a good Quad.
... at your service if no 8-ways accrue .. thanks for the vote of confidence Majd! Ah the joys of polyglot books :)
PS. Still no Vapo so quad is at 4 x 3.6 ghz on water.

Anson might be willing to do it, though I'm not sure. He certainly has the hardware. What sort of book would be provided or could we run ours? Would we use 2.3.2a or the hush-hush 3.0 Beta? Also what kind of COMPENSATION might be provided for his time, and might there be an INCENTIVE BONUS to win the tournament? :)
Book: Harry Schnapp 8-move :-D
If there is played with the rules of CEGT or CCRL why not?
What does Vas? perhaps Rybka feels so better and massacred all opponents!
I have also a HS-7moves.
Amusingly, I think that these would have performed better against Zappa in Mexico. However, that's obviously something that wasn't known well until after the fact--and if it had been used, perhaps Zappa would have just used a different book to improve results for itself, knowing the limitations of a book made for the purpose of testing :-)
Thanks. I wasn't sure if Anson meets the third prerequisite, so we went with Nick. :)
It's going to be a new Rybka and a top-secret book.

You have a U.S. flag now? You're in the United States? Last time I checked (which is about 10 seconds ago), there are no cities called "Leiden" in the United States. You're getting some top-secret CIA computers for the tournament? :-)
Yeah, my little bro decided to get married on the same weekend as Leiden :)

Too many damned top-secret books and beta versions floating around. I expect ACCA to be a complete rout. You should manage a few end-to-end book wins. The competition is laughably outclassed.
Put it this way: the Redskins are 16-point underdogs. If ACCA were a football game, the spread would be more like 30 points.
Mmmm - no comment. Seriously, the spread on that game was ridiculous .. it's because some people are just betting on the Patriots (and doing pretty well so far).

Well, I agree with you, the 16-point spread WAS ridiculous.
But if the spread had been 44 points the Pats would STILL have covered. 52-7, sheesh. And the 7 was scored against the Pats cheerleaders.
My sense is that this apocalyptic game will abate, for this year, any further talk of Redskins in ths Super Bowl.

Since the Patriots are in the AFC, no, it won't abate any further talk of Redskins in the Super Bowl. :)
Seriously, it was just one of those games.
And no, no cheerleaders were playing. The Pats went for it twice on 4th down in the 4th quarter. These guys don't screw around.

I remember when the Niners were a 18-pt favourite against San Diego in the Super Bowl. My friend was a huge Chargers fan, and couldn't believe it. But I thought it was about right --- there was a 50-50 chance of +18 or no (the straight odds were like 12-1). Similarly, here I'd say the diff between the teams is maybe closer to 10 pts, but the 50-50 chance might indeed be 16. Margins tend toward blowouts, due to diminishing returns of effort (moving from +10 to +17 is often a big deal, not so for +17 to +10).

And by the way....13.5/15 in the two tournaments combined. 90% success. Still a lot of room for improvement!
Ok, we're all set now - thanks Nick :)

My pleasure Vas and good luck in Leiden !
Nick.
Nick.
Now this ACCA will be the cakewalk unlike Leiden for sure.Good Luck in both VAS!
A loss against Naum may put Naum at #1 though, if both win all other (5) games.
They play a 6 rounds swiss, 45+10. I'm curious how Now will do (another comeback engine, like Colossus).
