Can someone tell me does Rybka only use 3071 ram and no more?
so if I have 6 gig it will still only use 3071?
if it does use more how to set up ?
or could it be because I use deep fritz 10?
thanks

Should not. Fritz does not use 3 GB ram, Rybka does. Fritz just communicates with Rybka. But tell me what hardware do you have?
If I remember it correctly, you can go to Engine->Change main engine and adjust hash size there.
Yes, on a 32-bit OS I think 2 GB is max (3071 MB = 2048 MB = 2GB as Rybka rounds down the the nearest power of 2).
Also not sure if you will be able to set > 2GB using a 32-bit GUI like Fritz10 (never tried).

You can but there is a trick to it. After you load the engine right click on the engine pane. Then click properties. This brings up the UCI parameters change the Hash value and press ok. Of course with a 32bit engine or os you are limited to 2gb.
More is not always better. There are optimums for different time controls and the speed of your computer. Unless you are going to have it sit on a position for many hours/days, there is no need for that much RAM. Thing is, there are better methods to find a good move than having it sit for days because of diminishing returns as a result of search horizon effects.
I have CPU Intel Core i7 Extreme 980X 3.3GHz Socket 1366 Box
64bit as well but can only use 2048 or 3071 why not all the 6 gig of ram?

2048 and 3071 are the same for Rybka, see my post above. For a workaround to use > 2 GB see reply of Harvey.
Presumably you are talking about 64-bit Rybka ?
This was a easy question how do i use more ram??
Did you try the trick Harvey mentioned?

I don't quite understand Harvey's trick.
After you load the engine...
I suppose you have to load it with 2 GB hash or less
...right click on the engine pane. Then click properties. This brings up the UCI parameters change the Hash value and press ok
But in my Fritz 11 GUI, there is nowhere to change the Hash value in that "Engine parameters" window!
Hashtable size can only be modified in the "Load engine" window (the one with the list of engines, the "Clear Hash" button and the "Engine parameters" button.
