From November 26 - 28 the 30th Dutch Open will be played in Leiden. The tournament has been held for 30 years in a row now, I guess it is one of the few (the only?) computer chess tournament with such a history!
Rybka will be playing in Leiden to defend her title. Here is the preliminary list of participants:

It looks like a very fair match up! Lukas Cimiotti cluster, 200 Intel Nehalem cores, 2.93 Ghz and up, against...What?
Deep Sjeng is the main competitor there I assume, I bet that game against sjeng decides the tournament :)
It's probably more likely that the tournament will be decided by record against the weaker members of the field, where any draws will be very costly. This makes opening preparation avoiding deep drawish lines of paramount importance.
There won't be draws.

I agree with this: last time we beat Rybka but it wasn't enough. Now the field is quite "thick" so it will be even easier to drop half or even full points along the way.

Deep Sjeng may well have a large cluster

And there may be more entries yet ?
Jonny will probably have the largest cluster, in the WCCC in Japan it was playing on 800 cores.
That's insane! How do you transport these things around!?
You don't. It is sitting in the university and you use a notebook in the playing hall with a remote connection.
That sucks! I want to see two mega-beasts of machines, sitting opposite each other, glaring at the chessboard, with their tape-decks rolling, printing out their moves on a built-in dot matrix printer!
I haven't seen a machine with a tape deck in a long time.
Nah, it was in Japan, so they'd have to be giant robots
Yes, the Japanese have a love for giant robots with missle launcers stapped onto them! My thinking is that Rybka Cluster would crush those missiles with it's mind!
Tape decks?
We prefer punched cards and drum memory

What about fan-fold tapes and toggling in loaders for same? With 8K ram and 32K discs?

I suspect you predate me (just) a little...

would love to see Rybka run on 2048 cores
Ahhh, now I know the cause of the delay
No Rondo? Aw, well then, go Rybka!
EDIT - And I think the Cluster is overkill

I thought this tournament already happened in May. Are there 2 Leiden tournaments?
Yes Leiden is the center of computer chess :)
Despite strength difference it's going to be a fun tournament!

would rybka even function properly on 2000+ cores? how many is vas running, isn't it only 100.....
Lukas is running 200 cores.
2000 cores would definitely require some work.
