I am going to stop posting to this forum if I can't at least correct a spelling error on the subject line.  It won't let me correct an error.  Are not my posts my own...why can't I edit them?

You have 2(?) hours to edit your posts after they are posted.

Not enough...had to do something else. Should be 48 hours. At least let me change my spelling in the subject line. I don't need a big slap in the face public humiliation because I was careless in the subject line.

I agree, I proposed 3 days.

However, it's not in my hands.

that's reasonable. One could also make that time infinite, don't know why editing shouldn't be allowed after let's say a week.

I suggest you simply "report" you own message and ask a moderator to make the correction.

The Report option isn't available to own posts.

But anyway, SR, maybe you can offer your services as post editor, so people can request them to you by private message

I got fed up of it and surprised of how often one was needed, a 3 day limit would save a lot of work and hassle (since the limit doesn't do anything, anyway).

I was hoping you would give a better reason for increasing the time limit. The humiliation is already done long before the 48 hours are over. Most people who will ever read your post will have read it by that time. Google will also have added it to their index.

Anyway, I see that you started poll on this. Although it was slightly disappointing to see two overlapping options covering the result you are hoping for (and the wording on one of them adding a little bias), I'll wait and see what comes out of it.

I think people can think for themselves, despite a little humor in one choice.  If chess players can't, I don't know who would. Choices in life are overlapping, that hardly seems like a problem.  I suppose I could have had a dozen choices half concerning subject line half not but it would seem a little redundant. And that would hardly do either as there are combinations. People could have any of the choices for text body with any of the choices for title.

Oh and thanks for rubbing in the humiliation.  And somehow I would like it to end, rather than retaining it for eternity. I wonder if anyone else would feel that way.

Maybe we could get a spellchecker??????

A good browser will check your spelling when you post here on the forum (tested on both FF and Opera).

Really? How does it work with FF?  I see no way to do that.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
