That's a clever rule! :)

Oh, it's a downright devious one! But I have seen one account that isn't on there anymore who's record is still up for Loser's chess, ironically used instead of tic-tac-toe in a very straight to video movie "War Games 2"! But then I figured he's still on there but under a different handle....probably got bored of losing to everyone..or is it winning? lol, and getting challenges all the time. Going to Rybka 4 settings class today.. :) Have to know how to do this since the contempt factor is gone, going to be a challenge! Of which I looking forward to doing with much enthusiasm, except for the "skool" part..lol.

So much to read, So little mind....err, time.
Reading all these time control issues and other optimized defaults issues it seems a bit rushed.
R4 has been in progress for what, 2 years? 1+ week or beta testing seems very short.
With that said, I am eager to check out the final result!

I think people have been wondering what he has been doing for 2 years!
> Sometime ago I once watched a movie called 'god of gamblers', now in Vas I see one . Did you guys really test that thing properly? I just want to see the influx of "Rybka can't do this, Rybka can't do that" during the 1st month of it's release. I think the testing period was too short
The testers did a really great job, a lot of issues were fixed during the Beta testing. We used a subforum to communicate, this worked really well.
Of course, there are also some real-world constraints, that's life.

Vas Question 1: What happened to R3+? It seems it would take 2 weeks for you to fix that. Can you imagine that some of us are very disappointed, also given that R4 seems a completely different beast?
>Vas Question 1: What happened to R3+?
Actually he hasn't officially said he won't release R3+. Maybe he will release it tomorrow with R4. I know, I know - I am an eternal optimist.
i.e. before the adrenaline rush is superceded by an immense lazyness ;-)

Yes, I'm sorry - I missed that one. It's too late now, it doesn't make sense any more to take a detour for this.

wait for the reverse engineered version...before the weekend for sure.
Edit: Never mind

Max CPUs
parameter to 4 during this engine registration (and add something to the Engine name, e.g 4t). Then use this engine instead, and it should always use max. 4 threads only. I hope this means that the 4 physical cores are used, automatically.
But I would consider to not even use all physical cores on a laptop, due to the temperature increase you describe. The performance gain from 3 to 4 is small Maybe it's "healthier" for your comp to use only 2 or 3 cores for long times of full load.
Could you, please, let me know (or direct me to the source of info) what is the difference in between Rybka 4x64 and Rybka 4 960x64?
Kind regards,
Ivan
