I could have played my game at FICGS but here is fine too.

1.e4

BTW: I will post a board and moves list every so often. I don't think there is a need to post a new FEN with moves list every time we move. Harvey and I are both used to playing games on forums so I am sure it will work out fine.

I would have nervously played the 2.c3 Sicilian had you went that way. I didn't suspect you would want to play something as popular as the Sicilian though so I felt fine playing 1.e4. Knowing what your capable of makes me wonder how soon I will get a novelty/unusual line popped on me....

2...Nc6   Me a novelty? Never :)

I'll re-post the moves and board in a reply to the original post after a few more moves. That way everything doesn't keep getting pushed to the right.

Sweet, this will be a good fun game to play. I'm going to look at houses right now but I will move later this afternoon when I get back.

OK, I just got done watching the scene in the park from "Searching for Bobby Fischer" where young Josh plays this line against Vinnie(Laurence Fishburne) and I think I know where Vinnie screwed up. Let's see if I can do better then Vinnie this time. I made a new post as well with moves and FEN at the bottom. We can reply to that for the next few moves.....

And some of my favorite Vinnie quotes...

#1
Vinnie: What's that?
Josh Waitzkin: Schliemann attack.
Vinnie: Schliemann attack? Where'd you learn that from, a book?
Josh Waitzkin: No, my teacher taught me.
Vinnie: Oh, your teacher. Well, forget it. Play like you used to, from the gut. Get your pawns rolling on the queen's side. Come and get me.

#2
Vinnie: He didn't teach you how to win, he taught you how not to lose. That's nothing to be proud of. You're playing not to lose, Josh. You've got to risk losing. You've got to risk everything. You've got to go to the edge of defeat. That's where you want to be, boy - on the edge of defeat.
Josh Waitzkin: But...
Vinnie: But what? Play. Never play the board, always the man. You've gotta play the man *playing* the board. Play *me*. I'm your opponent, you have to beat *me*. Not the board, beat *me*.

#3
Vinnie: There it is!

Well, Josh nowadays has become world champion in some obscure martial art discipline.

I looked at them both and d3 was more drawish. I want to win but if not I want to see something crazy and with d3 it looked really boring.

> Teimour Radjabov

Who? This guys play correspondence chess or is he just giving his human opinion? With 4.d3 I saw a position that Harvey would easily be able to draw probably much like what we are about to be in anyways but at least the engines give me a nice eval here. This game is in progress but I would love to talk about the differences between 4.d3, 4.Nc3 or even old school 4.d4 after the game is over.

Parent - - By Bobby C (****) Date 2010-04-25 05:37
"bone idle" - Had to look that one up but it means "lazy" lol. Nat12, I'm not going to post a new board every move cuz it takes up too much space. Every four or five moves is ok, if you can't visualize that many moves ahead you'll have to lay off the Cuban cigars per doctors orders.
Parent - - By Harvey Williamson (*****) Date 2010-04-25 09:59
If Paul wasn't such a slacker he would keep his own board up to date.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2010-04-25 22:07
the reason i mention it is that i am 2 pawns down against Sekos and to a casual observer it may appear i am losing but this is not the case.

It can be confirmed by multiple sources that I predicted that Harvey would play 3...f5. :-)
Parent - - By Dark Horse (***) [in] Date 2010-04-23 17:35
not a difficult prediction to make... :)
Parent - - By Bobby C (****) Date 2010-04-23 22:19 Edited 2010-04-23 22:21
You can only predict one thing when playing Harvey. You know that he will not play a B90 or something analyzed to death on playchess. He likes to play something unique and interesting so 3...f5 would not have been hard to pick. Until I started playing the 2.c3 Sicilian I would have normally played 1.d4 to avoid a very simple draw for black but against Harvey I doubted 1.e4 c5 would even happen so I got to play 1.e4 :) I know a lot of people still like to play at the Sicilian with white but I am sure that on close to equal hardware/engines the Sicilian is easy to draw for black if black intends to play for only a draw.
Parent - - By SchachProfi (****) [de] Date 2010-04-23 23:11
Yes, it has to be shown yet that there is a forced win for white in the Sicilian... such a conclusion would ruin the chess-game altogether, so hopefully we can enjoy the attraction of the Sicilian (especially in non-computer play) for many years to come...

Hi,
I am interested in whites 11th move :)

Parent - By Dark Horse (***) [in] Date 2010-04-24 11:48
I wondered if White would have gone for 7.0-0 but instead Qe2 was played and yes, White's 11th move would be very interesting...

Hi,
It is not computer evaluatons as they were not used, it is the basic structure of the position
