i am thinking to buy i5 520

No, the speed up is about x1.7. I mean, with REAL threads, with hyper-threading you get slowdown instead.

i5-520 is a dual core CPU that supports hyperthreading. You should only use 2 tasks - 4 will be slower and it will cost more energy.
