Hello everyone,

Just thought about this, as the previous correspondence chess team matches Gameknot vs. FICGS then Igame vs. FICGS were very interesting, why not to organize a match between a team of FICGS players and a team of Rybkaforum members ?  It could be also interesting to set a rule like "Rybkaforum members will play assisted by Rybka exclusively" but of course it would be hard to prove... Anyway, it would be an unrated match, for fun, played at a long time control : 40 days + 40 days / 10 moves

Any players interested?  If so, I'll try to build a strong team for an interesting friendly match for sure!

> "Rybkaforum members will play assisted by Rybka exclusively"

Only if then FICGS wouldn't be allowed to use Rybka or her derivatives :)

Anyway, if the team needs a captain I'm available.

Well, the possible "only Rybka for Rybkaforum team" rule's interest would be for Rybka in correspondence chess only... but I doubt that all players at FICGS wouldn't use Rybka, at least partly :)

i am interested, use any engines you wish,i am happy with Vytron as captain.however i have some caveats, the teams should be limited to x amount of players chosen by the captain.i feel strongly on this although it puts respective captains in a very difficullt position.no doubt we can have further conversations on this.

Well, we ended with very few players on the end of the last game, so if we were even more restrictive on who joins we'd end with you and me playing alone at the end :yell:, I think we should allow in everyone that wants to play, as restricting it to a club based team wouldn't have any benefit, and we could be missing out on a very strong player we weren't aware of that we didn't include.

As for engines, everything should be allowed, since we have the precedent of Hiarcs Forum Vs. Rybka Forum game, where all engines were allowed, the communities have a name of an engine in them, but that doesn't mean they're tied to them that strongly.

yes i see your point.however i believe the captain should have the power to overule all votes and post what he considers best move.that is why we appoint a captain.the votes for a move are only a guide.we applied this rule against HEM and i for one was happy with this.

I see, I agree, we didn't overruled a move in our game against HEM, but we could have done it.

I see... You usually play a single game, each team having some time to decide the move, right?

My idea was more e.g. teams of 8 players, each member playing an individual game against a player of the other team.....

The games could be played at FICGS (maybe more convenient for time controls) but half could be played on this forum as well... This is for fun after all.

What do you think?

Ooh, you are proposing something without a precedent. Well, from the start I'm against time forfeits since I'd probably lose on time at some point or I'd have to play a move in a hurry that could cost me the game, the game Rybka forum lost against HEM was mainly due to the sadistic time controls, so it being for fun we can play in a more relaxed manner?

Otherwise I'm definitively in.

:-) It' s be pleasure to watch this GAME ... when YOU start?

I think we can play relax, actually we can even set a very looong time control :)  What do you think about 60 days + 60 days / 10 moves ?  More ?

Would you like to play the games at FICGS ? [of course with an interface & move notification] (usually players use their real name to register but in such special cases, fake names are tolerated if needed), or do we try to play half games here as well ?  Any idea ?

Looks like we can start to build some teams soon!

I was thinking about 24-48 hours time control, that way we can play more rounds ;), just that losing the deadline doesn't mean that you've lost the game, time forfeits would only happen when a member pulls off an alkelele (that is, disappearing for a long period of time without further notice) and all the other games are done or something, but that would mean forfeiting from the whole match, hopefully we don't have such an event at all.

Yeah, we can start recruiting, I don't think having to register at FICS is a problem, since we'd be asking FICGS members to register here as well to play the other half of the games.

Finally, several ways again : Each one plays a game with White on the place he's coming from (FICGS or Rybkaforum) and the other one with Black on the other site.. (2 games per player may be too much though) , or each one plays a single game with White or Black, either at FICGS or here, at the captains discretion...

For the time control, 24-48 hours per move is much harder than a 40 days / 10 moves time control, everyone can't play each day... But another solution would be to play blitz... like 1 hour + 10 seconds per move at FICGS and something like that here also, what do you think ?

> For the time control, 24-48 hours per move is much harder than a 40 days / 10 moves time control,

But it's easier since there's no time forfeit, the 24-48 time limit is more of a guideline, players know that they're not expected to take 50 hours or more per move as that would be longer than the time limit, so 24-48 is just the average they're expected to take to move.

About the colors and places, let's wait to have a list of players first, so that FICGS players that already have an account at Rybka Forum can play all their games here, while Rybka Forum members with a FICGS account can play all their games on there, etc., afterward we can decide who creates account where, I don't think having all players create accounts at the other place is necessary.

Also, I'm just stating my opinion and suggestions :), I'd like to hear about the opinion of other forum members.

Ok, let's wait & see... Any other players for this bloody-friendly match ? :)

In the games you could use any chess engine you wish, or is it just your own brain? :)
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2010-04-02 06:58
Engine assisted, anything goes, I think the only rule would be that you're not allowed to use assistance from another player.
Parent - - By SpiderG (***) [us] Date 2010-04-02 15:43
That's pretty awesome, I'm in...:)

Not so many players so far... what do you think Vytron?  Can you build a 6 (or more) players team?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2010-04-05 23:30
I don't know, but I'll try.
Parent - By keoki010 (Bronze) [us] Date 2010-04-06 15:53

Hi Harvey, why not :)  I'll create a thread in the forum soon, you'll just have to confirm that you want to play there...
