I recently purchased and installed a DVD entitled "Rybka 2.3 UCI & Chess Openings 2007"
The stand-alone version installed fine but I cannot find on the DVD the opening book for Fritz (RybkaII.ctg) that a printed set of instructions refers to. I would have liked to use it with my Fritz 9.
I understand from an other thread that I must contact info@chessok.com to get a link for a download but my problem is that my monthly download bandwidth is severely limited (and no I cannot change ISP easily) and I wouldn't be able to download a .ctg file without having to pay additional dollars.
Is there anyway to get this .ctg file actually on the DVD as the documents and on-line help files claim? How many people who have purchased the DVD have the .ctg file missing? (And yes, I checked for .rar and .zip possibilities; nothing of the sort on the DVD).
I'm sorry if I sound a bit fustrated but I really don't like having to pay extra (to my ISP in this case, for exceeding bandwidth) for something that is claimed to be part of the product I already purchased. I would have much prefered a non-defective DVD.

Hi,
you'll need to contact Convekta (info@chessok.com) and discuss this matter with them. I don't know what their policies are about this.

Sir, I had that EXACT problem....that RybkaII.ctg is NOT on the DVD as implied in the instructions, so it is not defective. Your registration, assuming you did that properly, will eventually get you some e-mails from Rybka, but it will take several business days..then you will get more than you want (lol) :). Just be patient.
As far as the download problem, also a simple fix....if your computer is a laptop and wireless enabled, you can go to perhaps a sports bar or coffee house that has free public wireless access, and download it in seconds, once you get the link. You will get a zip file of about 98 MB which will open into the necessary files.
The final solution may be to download a free program browser called Opera (from opera.com). That will download your file, may take total 10 to 12 hours but it has the good feature that you can "resume" your download if you get disconnected during the transfer. There is a "Transfers" tab in Opera that lets you manage all that. It works, I did it!
The speed will slow if you have other stuff running at the same time but will eventually get through. ChessOk will offer to s4end you a CD for $5, and that will take a few weeks from Europe if you live in the states.
It took me over a solid week to get this file downloaded, including communicating with chessok, but just hang in there.

Hi,
Thanks for your help! I'll download Opera now while I wait for the reply from chessok.com. There is a sport's bar with free wireless access nearby so I'll download from there once I get the link. Thanks again! Especially for letting me know that it's not a defect; I was a bit worried there.

only defect is maybe the instructions :)
I hope the wireless works for you, I was having trouble loading Explorer under my wireless, but I have yet to try it on Opera.
Opera has a setting to make it "appear" like Explorer or Netscape, some sites like banks or credit cards may not recognize Opera as a valid browser, but you can work around that.
Also, your links to Convekta should get you a download for the latest engine file for Version 2.3.2a (your DVD is for 2.3 most likely).
It will be up to you to decide if the RybkaII.ctg file really is an advantage or not, there are many discussions here on that matter.
I use the Rybka products under Fritz 7 interface. I am not sure how the Fritz 9 and associated opening books compare.
Good Luck
