omg, what's going on, a draw against twisted logic? common :)

Yes. "Observe Rybka" does it. But she must be playing at the time, otherwise you get something like "Rybka is not logged blabla".

And with 56 Nehalem or Xeon processors, Rybka missed 29. Ne6+ Lukas? Or does the cluster think fxg6 wins faster? Maybe it does...

Parent - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2009-08-16 05:24 Edited 2009-08-16 05:43
Crosstable: http://www.taccl.org/ACCAWCRCC/2009ACCAWCRCC/WCRCCRounds.html
But that crosstable isn't up to date ;)
We are first with 7/8, Sjeng is second with 6.5/8. Today there will be 4 more rounds.

Nobody reply on this game from Twisted Logic that plays on a Q6600 with 1core!! and get a remise against a Cluster from 52cores with the lastest Rybka version!

I would at least say..congrats to Edsel Apostol and to the opening choose that looks like a draw..but still..1core against 52cores!

Looking forward to see his SMP version from TL!

JP.
Parent - By mikal (**) [us] Date 2009-08-16 11:11
I find that draw funny though. Rybka just have like ~$10000  setup and drawing against a sub ~$700 or maybe lower setup and nowhere near rival program and not even using full resources. Makes me wonder even more if the beta non-cluster version did really made improvements over the public version.

Erdogan was complaining that this bookline seemed awfully familiar to him :)
Parent - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2009-08-16 09:32
Yes, he also wrote me an email about it.
He thinks, they copied his line from Playchess.
That's the way book making is done ;)

What now? Playoff with Sjeng?
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2009-08-16 16:57
I hope not. AFAIK Sjeng will only get a draw at best.
Parent - By Dragon Mist (****) [hr] Date 2009-08-16 16:57
Yeap, I see now.

Yes, luckily there was no 'Erdo' saving trick this time ;-).

Congrats to the whole team!

why did it allow 14...Nxe3 against deuterium?
Parent - - By ernest (****) [fr] Date 2009-08-19 10:48
???   what's so bad with allowing 14...Nxe3 ?
Parent - By tibone [de] Date 2009-08-19 16:04
because it´s giving up the bishop pair. because the bishop is better than the knight in most of the positions (and certainly in this). it might look as if the white attack on the king side is very fast and strong, but i don´t think black can be any worse with correct play. the fact that rybka won doesn´t mean he didn´t make any mistakes. the game reminds me of these two games: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1044000 and http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1316541&kpage=1#reply24
Well white won both games, but was slightly worse in both of them.

Also for example in aposition with a pawn structure like this: Black halfopened f file and pawns on g7,h6; white half open h-file an pawn on g6, white has no bishop to sac on h6.
Furthermore Black already has an attacking mark on a3. that´s why his play on the queenside with a5,b4 is also guite fast.

? Here: http://www.taccl.org/ACCAWCRCC/2009ACCAWCRCC/WCRCC.html  it says that round 9 will start tomorrow. So there will not be 4 rounds today, but 5 tomorrow.
Thanks! SpiderG

I don't know in which time zone you live. Mountain time? Pacific? Alaska?
Here is already Sunday, 16. Games today start at 9:00 eastern time.
The tournament has been cut to 12 rounds, 8 were played yesterday, Saturday 15. The last four rounds will be played today.

Could someone kindly explain the information on this table format.  Thanks!

The way I am reading it is the "w" or "b" is for white or black, then the number after is the number of the opponent and of course the +,- or = is for win loss or draw.  Is this correct?

Yes, and results for the last round are missing.

Then by far the most impressive result is by Deep Sjeng.  Undefeated so far and good draw against RC.  I wonder what hardware it is on, as I remember the author was doing great progress in his clustering project.  Maybe it is the first sign that the hours of hard work are paying off?

9 round just started, we're white agains Thinker. It chooses Pirc, so it looks like a good attacking game is in the making.

Good news also, Rybka output is now sorted out, she only shows the "main main" line.

One sided game, as expected after the opening. R showing +1.80 already.
