And what could otherwise expect. ;-)
Rybka is also too strong (and superior) for most of the commercial engines. :-)
For example, it would be much better (and useful also.. ;-) ) if you attempt to test against some other versions of Togas, or against Thinker, Cyclone, Grapefruit, Stockfish, Glaurung...; and to find out, if he is stronger of some of them.

It would be even better to forget about Toga.

Why? :-)  Because maybe, someone has no money to buy some of the commercial chess engines, then, for him (for example), Thinker and Toga/Fruit/Cyclone (etc..) are a very good choice...

You are free to do this.
I'm happy that there are Toga and Glaurung (and Stockfish).
not that there succeded a strength increasement to me, but it was big fun to deal with those sources!

Well, we were promised a Toga XXXX that was stronger than Rybka 3 and I'm still waiting.

They just played with our hopes, why? wryy?? That's just cruel.

Yes, it's the same, we censor the name because it's the same name of an engine clone.
Parent - - By Jonas (****) [at] Date 2009-07-06 00:24

It's a yellow alert, but I did jump out of my seat

>btw, was it a pure clone or did it have some differences and could really perform better?

IIRC just a hex edited name.

Well :-) , I am 100% sure that the version of Toga "XXXX" (for example: version - 2064 :-) ) will be able to beat Rybka 3. ;-)

Btw., I wonder what it could mean that "XXX" :-) , maybe a special edition of Toga only for adults... :-D

I knew it from before, but I was directed joked (I used this theme for joke, with intention... :-) ) about the Toga "XXX" ;-)

Wow! Who the hell was able to give you such a promise in a way, that you believed it?
It mut be a very impressing person.
Would he be able to convince you, the easter bunny exists?

It's not that I believed it, it's that I gave it the benefit of the doubt. And yet, it's possible that tomorrow a new freeware engine appears that is stronger than Rybka, it's just that it's extremely improbable. Paraphrasing:

"There's a difference between extremely improbable and impossible. It's extremely improbable that both you and me win the Nobel Prize, but it's impossible to eat the sun."

Capable of being improved?

> impossible

Or unprovable. Improvable != unprovable, just like impossible != unpossible.

> "It's extremely improvable that both you and me win the Nobel Prize"

How would you improve it (or prove its unprovability)?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-07-06 14:38 Edited 2009-07-06 14:41
I was just thinking in spanish, actually, I meant "unlikely" ("improbable" in spanish), not "unprovable."
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-07-06 15:06

> ("improbable" in spanish)

In English too.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-07-06 15:14
Wait what? All this because I put a "v" instead of a "b" in some word? asdgasdg... where's my f key?

Anyway, thanks, I think that was the last time I misspell improbable (I blame sleep deprivation).

Yes. You see, years ago, there was this forum where people really appreciated decent, readable English. Some of the dumber misspellings were mercilessly mocked.

Topic title: has any one herd of this
Belthazar (first reply): I've herd of cows. I've also flock of sheep.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-07-06 15:36
Yeah, I'm familiar with "sporking" (poking someone with a spork [a combination of a spoon and a fork] when they use bad grammar, semantics or they commit a typo) and I've even done it, it's really the only way to improve, it's just that this time around, introducing the word "unprovable" was extremely confusing, and my dictionary didn't translate improbable as improbable, making me believe that the word didn't exist in english, even though I remember using it previously, it was so surreal, then I noticed it was just a v and b swap case.

I think it would be cool to have a Grammar Police at Rybka forum, such members are allowed to edit other member posts to correct them, and corrections appear in a special marked form that not even moderators have access to. Oh, and corrected posts become unread again so people can see the corrections happening

Did it ever exist Vytron? I tried to look for it in vain. I then thought it was just hoax.

You should ask Eelco de Groot, he had a piece of untuned code from XXXX on his hands, and after tweaking it for some time, didn't reach any definitive conclusion about XXXX's existence.
