Durn, I've got to rebuild my CA database.  I trashed it somehow.  7mm games gone and the backup won't work either.  Don't know what I did to do that!

Also, sorry to hear that keoki010 :(

Yeah, Chess Assistant and Aquarium have some similar side effects.  If you know exactly what you're doing it's no problem.  But when you try something new to yourself, watch out.  Strange things seem to happen. Otherwise they are great products.  I can rebuild the database, maybe not the same but close.  I thought I was safe because I had a backup but looks like I backed up the error too.  Oh well, live and learn!

Yeah, I was planning 45.Qc2 and 46.Rg1, but I decided to change their order and now I think Qe1 leads to a better plan, we will see...

i think i am prepared for your attack and just hope my position will hold.you are playing very well and you have all the opportunities to change your plans,i just hope as Soren put it my fortress will hold.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-07-02 00:46
Thanks, I keep the hope because I think white can win this, on drawn positions the attack fails and one has to backtrack and find something different, here black's defenses fail, and one has to backtrack to try something different for black, the good thing is that white's attack remains the same, so I can force the moves rapidly.

Even though black's problems are that it doesn't know how is white going to attack, I don't know how much time I can keep this, unfortunately I'll have to rely on weird looking shuffling I don't understand from now on (in past moves I could understand white because the position was a land mine, so all I did was putting a trap every move, and it seemed to pay off), either I eventually break through, or I reach a high score position in where I can't make progress.

Why 50...Kh7? Would 50...Rba7 not be more logical? What was whites treat?
Parent - By BB (****) [au] Date 2009-07-02 13:12
Hmm, is the White King safer on the Q-side (say c3)? Or is it needed where it is in the case of a massive swap-off? Or does it matter?

Sorry, now I understand the idea of 50...Kh7  ;-) ;-)

i could have chosen 50...Rba7,50...Nd7 or 50...Kh7,they all evaluate the same.i have to just potter around till whites breakthrough or otherwise.

Interesting, but why did black allow the white bishop to go to g5. If black played 50....Rba7 instead of 50....Kh7, I cannot see how white can get his bishop to g5.  Probably I am missing something, but is it not possible for black to keep the king away from the h-file and thus prevent white from having his bishop on g5. With the black king on g7, the white bishop on h4 is just blocking for the white rooks.

Why did black keep his king in the h-file for so long??

i wonder if Soren who is of IM standard has any ideas on how to break down black,i believe he is following the thread.i believe i can just hold on.Engine dont really help white here, although they are better with black.come to that any input from AsosLight would be welcome.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-07-04 07:47
I think he said his money is on Black's fortress being so strong that it holds, and I finally reached the no progress wall, it's interesting to find a position that Rybka mis-evaluates for about 70cp if this is really 0.00, but I'd like to play till the end.
