Yes, I was counting on Kd3 as well
But anyway, if Bobby didn't play it it must be because it led to a draw as well...

I, too, expected it.
But e6 made it much harder to beat Rybka into submission about the position being drawn.

That must be your human evaluation, lol. Maybe I should start making all my moves and then adding #42 after them or on the other board adding 0.00 because that is what score I am getting with Rybka :)
i know what you are seeing,i am very happy with the position.
Both positions are just one of them? I think that your game with white is 100% drawn and this endgame is a madhouse where some engines think white is completely won and others think white is slightly won. :)
Nope, still Rybka (IDeA). It involved fixing a lot of lines to 0, though.
It's cool, I hope your right. I would feel bad giving you the draw in a won position. LOL, actually I would not feel bad since this game was more of a fun experiment then a "kill or be killed" challenge. :)
The versatile move, of course.

What's up with engines/GUIs insisting that it's Nce2? Hello? The other knight it pinned, the move is not ambiguous.

Did you find something with this move or are you still seeing = marks everywhere? Do you think there is something for white or are you ready for a draw?
I'm ready for a draw though I don't think it's a "dead draw." Did you expect this move from me or was it some kind of "lost hope" move?
>Did you expect this move from me
Honestly it seems to be the move that the chess engines I am using like so far, but I was hoping Ne4 or something more "aggressive" (a4?!) would come about, although I had not planned a way to force the win yet. If it had been my move I wold have tried to find a way to make something else work despite the better score for Nce2/Kd3 but like I said had no plan better then the line you choose. Zappa still has this position scored at slightly higher then +1.00 and Naum has it ~.25 then Rybka at ~0.10. So white has got to have some chance, I saw this endgame exactly like this when I played Qa4 and I wanted the 2 minor piece vs rook and pawn position hoping that somehow we could win blacks a-pawn and have a very clear advantage. Now the engines do not seem to be willing to play for the a-pawn just yet, but if I knew I could force a way to win it I would not be talking about offering a draw. I am still hesitant when we are getting scores higher then .25 out of engines that have been known to play better endgames then Rybka.
FWIW, My wife recently had surgery and has been feeling sick lately because of a post-surgery virus infection and I am finding it hard to find enough time to crack a seriously tough position like this one. This is a friendly game and a "fun" game so if you think that considering this we would not be able to force a win here then I have no problems taking a draw on this or the other game. I would accept a draw right now on the other game but I think the other team might want to see how we play up to move 32 or so first. After that the game should be clearly drawn due to the lack of mobility of some of the pieces on both whites and blacks side(Black is threatening mate on f1 if whites rook leaves the 1st rank)
Hold that above thought. I want to give this position one last crack tonight, I got a few hours to do some interactive work and then all night to run some long analysis. If I can not find anything that looks good enough then I will offer a draw if that is fine by you? By the rules I have to move first and then offer the draw, so I will make my choice and a draw offer if I decide that is what I want to do.
> I don't think it's a "dead draw."
Another point, Vempele implying that he has solved this position to a draw might be a bit misleading, kind of like me making it seem like I had a "forced win". You can not solve this position to a draw, there are too many millions of playable lines left, IMO. You can however solve this to a draw on chess principle, if you can prove a solid way of using the same idea to force all possible positions into a , hmm what would the word be, "theoretical draw?" IE, if all the pawns were removed then KNNB vs KRB is a draw in most positions. Also, obviously two knights cannot mate a lone king. Finding a forced win in this position might be like finding a specific electron on a specific atom in a specific molecule in a needle in a haystack the size of Mount Everest, LOL, hows that for an analogy? Maybe I will make that my new sig, hehe.
I hope your wife gets better.--
About the draw, offering it is fine with me, I don't think they can blunder at this time, and if Vempele says he's developed an axiom that would drawn against anything we could try, I believe him (we have a precedent after all.)
The experience has been fun in these games, now I know how Relay Chess feels like
(we're the first ones playing it I believe?)

I changed my mind, at least for a few moves. I actually have a good reason for playing 31.a4, to me I feel like it is a better "truth" serum for this position. By playing this I will see a bit faster if we can really win this or not. I am going to start forcing some moves I want to play as long as they do not put us in a losing position. 31.Kd3 evaled 0.12 at d30 and 31.a4 was 0.08 but only if a certain line is played otherwise it is 0.10 or more (depends on the engine).
> and if Vempele says he's developed an axiom that would drawn against anything we could try, I believe him (we have a precedent after all.)
Axiom 1: it's a draw if I say so.
It was 4 in the morning, after all.

Seriously, though, it's pretty close even without Axiom 1.
> Finding a forced win in this position is like finding a specific electron in a needle in a haystack.
Actually, that's not as hard as it seems--since electrons are identical particles from the point of view of the laws of physics, you can say that finding one is just as good as finding any other. :-P
What about protons or neutrons?
The universe has a weird type system.
The same.
>What about protons or neutrons?
The same.
Yes, protons and neutrons, in spite of being made up of more fundamental particles, are also treated in the laws of physics as identical particles. This may not sound significant, but the phenomenon of degeneracy is where it makes a major difference between whether particles are distinguishable (at least in principle) or indistinguishable. The same is true of atoms and molecules.
YAWN
So in their fundamental particles, apples and oranges are identical and indistinguishable? It gives a new meaning to the term
They don't have the same fundamental particles in the same order, so no. :-)
Could you distinguish an apple from an orange by looking at their fundamental particles? :)
They would definitely behave differently in the laws of physics in which degeneracy is relevant. :-)
What about two different apples? One green and one red? Would you be able to tell their color by their fundamental particles?
Yep. :-)
YAWN again.
How long until we get into the "penalty box"? ;-)
god knows.sin bin now.
i take it that,that is 30.Nce2.in which case 30...f5
of course its pinned, stupid of me.

That is what I was thinking. I knew you did not have this whole position solved to a draw. You probably will find a way for this move, maybe. I am adopting a slight anti Vempele strategy for a few moves. :)
2347 positions found via transposition.
Straight into one of my drawing lines, too.
Straight into one of my drawing lines, too.
> Straight into one of my drawing lines, too.
Of course :) I am sure you have them all solved Master Vempele. :)
i just feel that the white King should be on d3.
unlike yourself,i think Rybka plays a rarther good endgame.
my reply to PCS applies to you also.Rybka in this sort of endgame plays well.
If it ends up being a draw. I would still like to test this idea of your about Rybka's endgame play. If you have a playchess account I would like to challenge you Zappa vs Rybka and then Naum vs Rybka from this game's positon with white to move #27. Is that ok?
id also try stockfish its endgame play is very strong imo
