What's next:
We are going to start working on a 'serious' feature upgrade. We'll work into several (or all) of the following directions:
- IDEA improvement: more control over stages and move priorities, parallel processing with several single-core engines, displaying current analysis, saving analysis queue etc.
- Delayed analysis: integrate EPD processor into Aquarium, display & control the positions to be analyzed, manage source & destination files, evaluation import etc.
- Play mode enhancement: save current game when exiting, allow game adjourning, exclude observer engine, allow playing from any position. Possibly even merge Play and Sandbox.
- Learning features: detecting blunders in own/database games and using it in training, opening repertoire training, opening exploration courses etc.
- ChessOK Downloader and Uploader: chess data sharing, more convenient installers, etc.

That's really a lot of changes, but hopefully less access violations

Thanks Zruty and the team - and for all the hard work put into it :) :)
Thanks also. It is good to see that game analysis can be performed and saved in pgn files - for me, that makes the program a lot more useable and useful!
"parallel processing with several single-core engines"
I would make this one a priority.
"Fixed occasional huge numbers in the position counts in IDEA"
I hope this is what I think it is (http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?tid=6813).

After installing the incremental update to 3.0.7, when I open my Aquarium, it shows the version as 3.0.6 (build 48).
Is there another incremental update to 3.0.7?
Is there another incremental update to 3.0.7?
nope. just that info was not updated ( it slipped i guess)
really it is 3.0.7. 'About' field was not updated in time.
So if it says 3.0.6 (build 48) then it is actually the 3.0.7 version for sure?
Yes. To be even more sure, you can right-click the EXE file, select 'Properties' and on the Version tab you'll see the correct 'File version'.
Thank you, Aquarium team. Looks great so far.
Aquarium works just fine after 3.0.7 but I have one question: I analysed one game from a pgn database and the analysis was saved to that database. However, this did not happen with a cbh database although I saw the complete analysis before being prompted to close the current view. Is saving an analysis to a cbh database not supoposed to happen at all?
And apart from that I thank you for a chess programme masterpiece!
And apart from that I thank you for a chess programme masterpiece!
> Is saving an analysis to a cbh database not supoposed to happen at all?
cbh is read-only for non-ChessBase products by virtue of being a closed format. Reverse-engineering it for reading is hard enough.
Thank you.
Thanks, well worth waiting for!

In the "about " menu it isn't the 3.07 version but the 3.06 build 48 I've tried the http://www.chessok.com/download/Aquarium/Aquarium307Full.exe link and the chessok downloader.
The version remains 3.06
The version remains 3.06
Having updated from 3.05 to the faulty 3.06 which seemed to break everything, I uninstalled Aquarium, reinstalled the original release, and then upgraded to 3.07 using the full upgrade package (not incremental). Now - Load CTG books does not work at all. Very frustrating.
Yes, there is something broken here. Fortunately there are other ways to create a new CTG configuration.
Click 'Options' on the Tree tab and then 'New'. Select 'New CTG-based opening book' etc.
Click 'Options' on the Tree tab and then 'New'. Select 'New CTG-based opening book' etc.
True - and I did install the CTG tree the "old way". What happened when I tried to use the Load CTG option was that it created a "blank" configuration which I cannot delete - it just sits at the top of the tree drop down. A small annoyance.
Look for <item name="" in Config/tree_configurations.xml and delete that entry.
Ah... that works fine! Thanks a lot.
Dadi, any way to get the original CTGExample file back. I made a mistake and edited it...<embarressed, hang head>
Thanks,

Thanks for the update! Lots of stuff!
Alos, before the next mega-update like this one, any chance of making a few more minor functional changes, such as allowing the clock to "pause" in sandbox "fun" mode?

I meant in play "fun" mode, not sandbox, of course.
Hi,
I updated to 3.07 but it still shows as 3.06 in the pic, a simple oversight I reckon :)

Yes, it's already been mentioned twice in this thread.
When I click on Print, I get an error "Printer selected is not valid" and "Operation not supported on selected printer." Under Options, my printer is selected. Tried 2 different printers, too.
Thanks much!
Thanks much!
can you tell which printers? Are there drivers properly installed? ( i guess you have printed with them in other cases).
Just asking questions to narrow the possibilities

After another re-boot, it's working fine. Sorry for the trouble...
Hi,
thanks
3.07 does it mean that there were 3.06 ? I must have missed sth :-(

There was. It turned out to be broken.
Is it possible to view the info displayed in the dialog box "View ECO index" permanently?

Build 48 (called 3.06 or 3.07) is a great improvement of Aquarium.
But the progress of the software is more a 3.10, i would prefer, that the minor bugs (like Load ctg) will be fixed as 3.11, 3.12 (but fast..) and so on, the maior update of features (here : publish, handling .cbh) should be greater jumps in version numbering.
BTW, i´ve tested DHTML output, it works fine so far...
Best regards,
Max

Hmmm? I downloaded 3.06 and didn't have any problems (accept the .ctg's wont load). Do I just download 3.07 or do I have to do some sort of uninstall to get back to the 3.05 version first. Also, will the .ctg loading issue be resolved or am I going to have to use one of the methods listed above.
Thanks,
Darrin

Just download 3.0.7.
No. It was discovered shortly after 3.0.7 was released...

No. It was discovered shortly after 3.0.7 was released...
Thank you for all the improvements ,especially the Chess960 position search and setup. These functions seem to work well and will provide an excellent resource for the 960 player.A couple of issues still to be resolved but all in all great progress. Drew
I observe that IDeA Alternative function doesn't work very well in Aquarium 3.07. (It doesn't give quickly alternative moves in 10sec/1ply. Sometimes it doesn't give moves at all.) Do you know this problem, Zluty or Buffos??
it always works for me. Sometime though , if you press it when something else is going on, it might not respond (and i use that one very often)
Ok. Thx. Well, I'm not alone with this. :)
Shrink the board.
doesn't work
And if you undock all the panes?
doesn't work -
the versions between 3.00 - 3.05 work.
But as I now noticed only one times. After expanding the two "symbols" (see the image) are gone.
"Enlarge to fit" and "shrink to fit" too.
Undocking has no effect.

This is a weird glitch, once reported for 3.0.0. We don't yet know the circumstances, so we can't fix it. I've never seen it myself.
