Would you pay $50 to be able to see a Milov-Rybka match? (Closed)

| No | 20 | 36% |
.
That's a question sure to draw an overwhelmingly positive response. A more interesting question would be something like "Would you pay $50 to be able to see....".
What about Chessbase? would they not have a interest in sponsoring a match?
Well, I guess it never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't expect any such sponsorship to be enough by itself. ChessBase is not the only distributor of Rybka.
well, they have contact to guys in german government which like to waste the money of our country for such matches. :)
In that case, if you know ChessBase people feel free to talk to them about this.
no, I don't have contact to them...
Yes, I would pay U$ 50,00 to see.

Not the same too :).
and again,well worth $50.
Sorry, but - never. I can watch top human games for free all the time. And I have Rybka at home.
I Can pay $25 for each milov win. :)
I'll pay $50 for each win in normal chess
the same for me!
50$ is very generous of you guys but I guess it`s not enough.
Hello Vadim,
The equation is X*50$=Y.
If X=100..200 ,would Y be in the sufficient ballbark ?:)

:) I just meant it will be difficult to organise such a match and it`s better to hope for some official sponsor.
Hopefully,such sponsor will be found.:)
My congrats on a fine play against octal Rybka.

Thanks a lot. I`m new to this forum and would like to express my views on the match.
Thank you GM Milov for playing and congratulations on a great result.
Congratulations for your great performance against Rybka and welcome to this forum. I have been following most of the games live on Playchess and I was very impressed. I sure hope to see more GM Milov vs Rybka matches in the future.
Congratulations Vadim. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the match. :-)
Thank you all again. I opened the new thread where I commented the games shortly. Looking forward to your reaction.
Congratulations.
You may not remember me but we once met in Geneva Airport.
Looking forward to read your comments on this match

Why is this 'a more interesting question'?
Almost all Rybka forum readers would like to see such matches, even if they only take a look now and then. Why not, nothing to lose. It's more interesting to know if forum readers want such a match badly enough to buy tickets at a price similar to a sports event they might attend. This doesn't mean that we will go this route; it would be much better to find a corporate sponsor.
Oh I see, well yes I agree, it is always more of a test to the question when you apply a consequence, but surely, the same would be true of handicap matches - ask people if they would spend $50 to see that too. This was the reason for my input, surely you would want to apply the same monetary consequence - if you did, what would the side by side result show - in favour of handicap or not?
I saw an idea posted by Soren a while ago (about a week?) and thought what a great idea. Hold a tournament where a number of top engines would play against all Humans. There are no prizes for the computer programmers other than PR from the event - the highest scoring GM would still win the event. So in a way, the GMs are playing against the computer programs but it won't count as far as the overall result is concerned. I think Soren has an idea here that should be explored further.
Just a thought.

If you mean $50 to see the entire match, yes.
i agree - $50 for the match
yes, that was what I meant.
Larry, I would pay 50 $ for a match GM vs Rybka no handicap, but to some conditions.
If I pay I would like:
1: video cam of the match. I'd like see the Gm and operator on Pc. (besides I don't understand because, despite is possible, almost any game on playchess is transmitted with video cam).
2: after every match, interview to the challenging GM of Rybka (transmitted in direct).
3: a MI to comment online in real time the games.
I would pay 50/70 $ to see a match human/Rybka with these characteristics

I agree with this. I would probably be willing to pay $50 if we had special access like this. Otherwise it's a bit much given that even WC matches were broadcast free (I can't understand why!). If it's just broadcast normally, I would be willing to pay $10 but not much more.
Certainly these things are possible; #2 is no problem, #1 also seems doable, and as for #3 I suppose you mean someone other than myself (since my comments are limited due to broadcasting on two servers while also making the moves on both real and computer board) which of course can be arranged at some additional expense.
Foe $50, I'd expect a front row seat in Larry's living room plus lunch. :)
Mark , in the next imminent championship of the world, to be in the play room and to dine with
Kramnik and Anand the ticket is of 280 $ for single game!

ok, this one is about normal chess, the other one is not clear about that point, so both polls make sense.
Before you change my poll title , you should to ask me first .
Don't impolite .

well, the result was so clear that this could be seen as a rhetorical question...
You could have at least notified him beforehand "I'm going to delete your poll because (etc.)"
ok, right
I'd like to see, but wouldn't pay $50.
Does this mean that the users that don't pay won't get to see anything, neither results and games?
