My Aquarium DVD finally arrived yesterday and I'm trying to get a handle on its features. First of all, the package has blown me away. Everyone involved here did a great job. I know I won't grasp all the features completely, but I'm most interested in Infinite Analysis. Maybe when I understand that better, I'll move on to IDeA. I'm hoping you can help me with a few questions.
1. My understanding of Stored Infinite Analysis is just that. Results of Infinite Analysis are stored by default. Is this correct? And how does this differ from pesistent hash -- which is NOT the default setting. And how does the Preserve Analysis setting figure here?
2. Previously, I used the Fritz 10 GUI to run Rybka 2.3 mp. When I 'clipped' the analysis, I would get the evaluations, together with basic info about the game and the engine, and a fen diagram. In Aquarium, when I do Copy -> All Analysis as ASCII, I get only the evaluations. Is there any way I can get at least the fen of the current position included?
Thanks for any info.
Benji

YES. All results during infinite analysis are stored in a tree

Well persistant hash, is an engine feature. You can read more information on this feature here
Infinite analysis is not used by the engine. It is used by IDeA though and by the user. You know what is in this tree and can browse it. Persistant hash is a black box by the engine for the engine.
> I can get at least the fen of the current position included?
When getting the analysis as Ascii . No (if i understood well) . You can get the current fen position either by clicking the "copy as epd button" from the home tab (in sandbox and game mode) or CTRL+\ when you are in notation pane.
If you right-click on a variation in the analysis window and select Copy > Current variation, then you get that variation in PGN format, including the FEN.
buffos, dadi, thanks for the quick replies. I will look try out your suggestions later tonight.
(I just checked the persistent hash link. How could I have missed this? Thanks again.)

I have tested both your suggestions. It seems that the fen is not presented together with all the analysis lines, just a single variation. Oh well, I guess I can live with that, though it would be a nice option if All Analysis included information about the engine, the game, and the fen, in addition to the evaluations.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
